GRADUATE STUDENT-A&G - General Counsel's Office

Who We Are:

The General Counsel's Office advises on all legal matters; provides transactional, regulatory and litigation support; and consults with SwRI leadership to identify and explore opportunities to monetize SwRI's intellectual property portfolio.

Objectives of this Role:

• Join SwRI's General Counsel's Office as a graduate student and work with attorneys to identify and analyze legal matters and implement solutions.
• Position is for the period of November 2025 to May 2026.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Conduct legal research and analyze legal issues as directed by attorneys.
• Prepare and discuss written analysis and attend meetings.
• Research applicable local, state and federal regulations pertaining to SwRI and day-to-day activities.
• Draft and review various legal documents as assigned by attorneys.
• Perform other work duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Must be pursuing a Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and in the second or third year of school.
• 0 years: Must have excellent legal research, writing, analytical and decision-making skills.
• Must have strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have good time management skills and must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Westlaw.
• Must be able to work both independently and as a member of a multi-functional team.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required.
