Objectives of this Role:

• Provide engineering support for research projects on fluid dynamics and/or heat transfer systems.
• Topic areas include hydrogen applications, oil and gas, carbon capture and sequestration, alternative energy, and space applications.
• Contribute to experimental research projects in a laboratory setting.
• Provide design solutions for fluid dynamics and/or heat transfer systems using analytical and computational approaches.
• Interact and engage with commercial and government clients to develop solutions that fit their requirements, develop their system, and take them through validation testing.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Conduct experimental laboratory research for fluid dynamics and/or thermal management systems at a pilot-scale; this includes the programming of data acquisition systems, selection and installation of various instruments, and commissioning systems.
• Design and optimize thermal and fluid systems using computational methods (CFD, Thermal and stress analysis, and others).
• Manage research projects and document findings. Post-process test data; present reports and technical papers; manage the technical and financial performance of projects.
• Develop new business through networking, customer engagement, conference attendance, and proposal writing.

Requirements:

• Requires a Masters in Mechanical Engineering or other applicable engineering majors such as chemical engineering or petroleum engineering.
• Any experience with thermal systems on ships or other experience is a plus
• 1-8 years: Work experience or research in the field of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, or thermodynamics.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex information.
• Desire to make a positive impact on the community through developing research aimed at solving some of our most-pertinent problems.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required.
