LEAD DESIGNER - SR. DESIGNER - AEROSPACE APPLICATIONS

Job Summary:

Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to develop conceptual designs, systems modeling, and fabricate prototype hardware. This role entails involve design, development, and packaging of mechanical and electrical systems for Aerospace applications. Collaborate with a group of engineers to accomplish high quality designs and participate in sensor design and packaging strategies. Particpate in the development and integration of electro-mechanical avionic systems that include Printed Wiring Boards and associated mechanical packaging. Use Solidworks to create detail and assembly drawings, customer and supplier CAD models, and document engineering specifications for mechanical components and assemblies.

Education/Experience:

Requires an AA degree in Design or directly related with 8 years of experience developing complex designs for engineers. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Experience in design mechanical concepts and drawings to determine the best product is required. Must have strong presentation skills in order to present product ideas to relevant project team members. Must have a strong mechanical background to recommend improvements to design and performance to mechanical engineers. Must be able to maintain up to date on current industry trends and take initiative to stay informed on current trends. Ability to modify and revise existing designs to meet customer/project requirements is required. Aerospace experience as a product designer is preferred. Experience working and designing Electro-Mechanical Assemblies is required. An understanding of GD&T and machining processes is required. Experience in working with small to large complex assemblies is required. Experience using Develop and refine highly detailed CAD models and assemblies from conceptual sketches, group discussions and direction from mechanical engineers. Requires excellent interpersonal skills to complement strong technical skills. This role requires, flexibility, innovation, and responsiveness to dynamic engineering teams. DoD prior experience desired. Must have a desire to be creative and inventive when working on complex designs. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
