Job Summary:

Join the Applied Physics Division. Analyze, design, develop, integrate, test and document engineered systems and subsystems. Prepare technical documentation and reports and present results to management and customers. Mentoring engineers and collaborate with team. Work with Government, industry, and other SwRI staff in creating designs or solving technical problems in a team environment. Pursue and support proposals and promotional presentations. Occasional travel to client sites will be required, domestic and international. Initiate advanced research and development programs.

Education/Experience:

Requires a BS degree in Electrical Engineering with 5-12 years of electrical design, integration, and testing experience; MS degree with related focus is desirable. Military experience and training with aircraft maintenance and operation is preferred. Army aviation experience is preferred. Must have at least a 3.3 GPA. Ability to design electrical systems using modern design tools is required. Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work well individually or collaborate with your project team. Knowledge of modern programming languages (e.g. C, Java, Python) and instrument control software (LabView) is a plus. Experience with manned aircraft systems, unmanned aircraft systems, embedded systems, control systems, communication systems, test systems, motors and 3-phase power are all desirable. Experience with military helicopter or other aircraft operation and maintenance is a plus. Experience writing proposals, managing technical teams, mentoring of less experienced engineers, and working closely with customers are all desirable. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
