This position is responsible for coordinating, interpreting, implementing, and enforcing information security policies and procedures in accordance with government agencies.

Objectives of this Role:

• Investigating and implementing security protocols
• Perform vulnerability scanning and implement patches to remediate findings.
• Implement encryption of SW and HW, multi-factor authentication, privileged account structures, and other system security features to support accreditation.
• Conduct Security Controls Assessments and maintain compliance.
• The ISSO is responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for our division information systems. The position requires detailed knowledge and expertise in managing the information system security.
• ISSOs periodically review / inspect information systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package and that all IS security-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals.
• This position will involve planning, coordinating and executing information security programs and providing guidance to comply with federal contractual Information Systems security requirements.
• You will be responsible for the operational environment to include implementing configuration management across authorization boundaries and developing the authorization documentation.
• We rely on ISSOs to provide technically sound and objective guidance ensuring the protection of National Security Information in support of Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Access Programs.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and update authorization packages.
• Notify management when changes occur that might affect the authorization determination of the information systems.
• Conduct periodic reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package.
• Identify cyber security vulnerabilities and assist with the implementation of the countermeasures for them.
• Coordinate any changes or modifications to the hardware, software or firmware of systems with management.
• Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features and procedures are properly restored and functioning properly.
• Ensure all IS security-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals.
• Ensure audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented (to include any anomalies).
• Execute the cyber security portion of the self-inspection, to include security coordination and review of all system assessment plans.
• Prepare reports on the status of the security safeguards applied to computer systems.

Requirements:

• Requires a Bachelors in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or other relevant area.
• CompTIA Security + required
• CISSP preferred
• Experience as a Organization Information Systems Security Officer, Information Safeguarding, Information Security procedures or directly related experience
• 5 - 10 years: Relevant DoD work experience, prior experience in Systems Administration and ISSO roles required.
• 5 - 10 years: Experience with information security requirements and securing computer systems to RMF requirements.
• Must currently meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Technician Level II or obtain within 6 months of date of hire.
• Current TS clearance with SCI eligibility. Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required
