ASSOCIATE SPECIALIST - PURCHASING/INDUSTRIAL COMMODITITES

Who We Are:

The Industrial Group within the Purchasing Department is responsible for the procurement of a broad range of industrial commodities.

Objectives of this Role:

• Determine the best source and price for commodities to provide cost savings to the Institute.
• Maintain compliance with all rules of the Federal Acquisition Regulation.
• Keep projects on schedule by appropriately sourcing items and expediting them accordingly.
• Maintain accounts and positive working relationships with vendors so that the Institute is in a position to receive the best possible pricing and support.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Solicit proposals for industrial materials and conduct price analysis to ensure that prices are fair and reasonable.
• Negotiate, finalize, and administer purchase orders and other related agreements.
• Perform market research to justify sourcing decisions, pricing, and commerciality of items.
• Expedite orders to provide timely receipt of materials.
• Work closely with various internal departments to assure prompt inspection, acceptance, and payment of orders.

Requirements:

• Requires a Bachelors with a 3.00 GPA in Business Administration or related with related experience
• 0-2 years: Experience negotiating and awarding purchase orders and standing orders, and effectively communicating with suppliers
• Experience with personal computers
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word or ability to be trained in Excel and Word
• Ability to utilize independent judgment and be diligent in all assigned tasks, work as part of a team, prioritize, and multi-task
• Ability to find creative solutions to problems and successfully communicate the results in writing
• A valid/clear driver's license is required
