SR. TECHNICAL SPECIALIST - TECHNICAL SPECIALIST - FACILITIES INFRASTRUCTURE

Who We Are:

Facilities Department oversees all aspects of the operation, maintenance and repair of existing facilities and infrastructure, as well as new construction and renovation of existing buildings and utility systems.

Objectives of this Role:

• Support Electrical Supervisor in operation and maintenance of, and expansion to, the existing electrical grid serving our campus.
• Support Electrical Supervisor and Capital Improvements staff in reacting to, investigating, and designing solutions to R&D project requests and Capital Improvement construction projects.
• Review project design documents from outside consultants to ensure compliance with internal design guidelines and any other codes/requirements, as necessary.
• Interact with CPS Energy on operation and maintenance activities related to the internal SwRI Main Station and the CPS Sub-Station located adjacent thereto.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Receive and triage requests for electrical modification to support R&D project demands.
• Receive and triage inquiries from Capital Improvements section on primary electrical design to support capital construction project efforts.
• Work with electrical department staff to review and react to various testing and report efforts pertaining to the electrical utility on campus.
• Interact with internal clients, fellow staff members, and outside consultants and AHJs to support all manner of electrical operations and modifications on campus.
• Assist in coordination studies to support the master planning of infrastructure to facilitate the introduction of new load onto the internal SwRI electrical grid.

Requirements:

• Requires a Bachelors with a 3.00 GPA in Electrical or Power Engineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer - Texas (PE) is required
• 5-10 years: General experience in the electrical industry as an apprentice and or journeyman, gaining hands-on experience with electrical systems, installation, means-and-methods, design documents, etc.
• Experience in design of electrical systems, with preference given to high-voltage distribution, specification of components, project coordination, etc.
• Experience in project management, including proposal solicitation, proposal evaluation and selection of vendors, cost control, submittal prep/review, schedule coordination, etc.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required
