STUDENT ASSISTANT-R&D - STUDENT ENGINEER - Hardware-Focused EE Student

Who We Are:

Southwest Research Institute is seeking highly driven and skilled student engineer for its Applied Power Division to develop prototype systems to solve national security challenges.

Objectives of this Role:

• Assist in design, development, and optimization of analog and RF hardware systems to enhance operational efficiency and performance.
• Participate in exercises and testing to gather critical field data and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Work in a collaborative environment with engineers and scientists with a variety of disciplines.
• Gain knowledge and experience in analog and RF design while working closely with mentor engineers.
• Summer 2026 Student position.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Apply circuit debug and design skills to improve performance and reliability for client specific deliverable systems.
• Collaborate with team members to develop and implement innovative solutions for unique and challenging problems.
• Conduct regular maintenance and updates on analog and radio frequency systems to ensure optimal functionality.
• Prepare and present technical reports and findings to senior management.

Requirements:

• Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering degree.
• 0 years: Must be entering Junior or Senior year. Knowledgeable in analog and RF circuit design and debugging.
• Experience with circuit simulation software such as LTspice.
• Experience with MATLAB and basic coding such as Python and C++.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office/365.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required.
