PRINCIPAL COMPUTER SCIENTIST - PRINCIPAL ENGINEER - AI/ML APPLIED SENSING

Objectives of this Role:

• Provide technical/programmatic leadership to R&D teams.
• Serve as technical lead and project manager of various 6.2 - 6.5 projects for the DoD.
• Identify novel technical approaches and innovations for further exploration through internal and external research.
• Work closely with cross-functional management to establish, execute, and adapt the department's defense sector strategy by developing customer relationships and performing business development and capture management.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Business Development: Identify new opportunities and establish relationships with strategic partners and customers in the defense S&T community.
• Propose novel S&T concepts and solutions for funding consideration.
• Technical Acumen: Lead technical R&D teams (engineers and computer scientists) on the execution of defense R&D programs of various sizes and complexity involving novel algorithmic and prototype development of leading edge automation and perception approaches.
• Mentorship: Motivate and inspire R&D team members in R&D methodologies.

Requirements:

• Requires a Bachelors, Masters, or a PhD with a 3.00 GPA in Engineering or Computer Science, other STEM degrees may be accepted with directly related experience- (MS / PhD preferred)
• 12 total years: 7 of the 12 must be in relevant experience in R&D or prototype technology solution development on defense programs; relevant experience includes subject matter expertise in unmanned systems, robotics, ISR, sensing systems, modelling and simulation, decision support systems or data analytics
• 5+ years: Must have previous past hands-on R&D, team lead, and project management experience
• 5+ years: Must have business development experience in S&T (not product acquisition) for the areas listed above; Established relationships with customer organizations is a plus
• A valid/clear driver's license is required
