ASSOCIATE SPECIALIST - SPECIALIST - TECHNICAL WRITER

Who We Are:

The Applied Sensing Department conducts AI/ML and connected-automated vehicle (CAV) research for clients in the automotive, industrial, defense, transport, agriculture, sports, and biomedical sectors.

Objectives of this Role:

• Provide technical documentation editing expertise to the Applied Sensing Department.
• Collaborate with department staff on written proposals and project material development, technical writing, proposal coordination, and other special projects.
• Work closely with technical and administrative staff to ensure that documents are of high quality and deadlines are met.
• Occasional after-hours work maybe required.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Develop, edit, and coordinate technical proposal content, marketing material, technical reports, and other professional inner-office and client correspondence.
• Will be responsible for formatting and grammar proofing for key technical documents related to our projects.
• Work closely with staff to ensure that deadlines are met.
• Development of graphics including images and pictures in support of technical and promotional documents and materials.
• Will be the liaison with SwRI Communications and assist with marketing material such as flyers and brochures.
• In addition, will occasionally assist with presentations and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Requires a Bachelors with a 3.00 GPA in Technical Writing, Journalism, English, or Communications, or related degree field that emphasizes writing
• 1 to 6 years: Technical writing supporting the development, proofing, editing, and formatting of large technical documents, proposals, marketing material, and/ or other professional correspondence
• Strong writing, attention to detail, grammar proofing, document formatting, and management stills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe required
• Experience in graphics design
• Experience educating others on technical terms or an interest in educating others on technical terms
• Experience using Confluence (by Atlassian) or ability to learn
• Must possess organizational skills, work well with others, detail oriented, strong work ethic, and ability to follow instructions, and work independently
• Must have strong interpersonal skills to interact with staff/ visitors/ clients
• A valid/clear driver's license is required
