ENGINEER - RESEARCH ENGINEER - ENGINE AND AFTERTREATMENT EVALUATION

Who We Are:

The Engine and Aftertreatment Evaluation (EAE) section performs a wide array of evaluation and development programs on engines, aftertreatment systems/components, fuels, lubricants and sensors to support our customers, which include OEMs, suppliers, government regulatory bodies and industry groups.

Objectives of this Role:

• Lead and support projects that contribute to the development of technologies and products which contribute to lower tailpipe emissions and improved efficiencies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to optimize facility support systems.
• Integrate existing tools/develop new tools to integrate calibration system - asset tracking and calibration database.
• Be a solution-oriented problem-solver that exercises creativity and independent judgement in determining approaches to solve a wide range of technical problems with minor supervision.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Lead projects assigned (supporting both external and internal customers).
• Assist with achieving section, department, and division technical goals through project support (24/7 operation).
• Projects typically involve the development and evaluation of products intended to reduce emissions and/or improve fuel economy, as well as validate durability.
• Work daily with a team of experienced engineers, project managers and technical staff to successfully conduct projects related to engines, aftertreatment, fuels, lubricants, and sensors.
• Use hands-on experience to troubleshoot engine, aftertreatment and test cell related malfunctions (hardware and software).
• Interact with staff and test cells to plan, conduct, analyze, and report.

Requirements:

• Requires a Bachelors with a 3.00 GPA in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• 0 - 5 years: Experience with or an interest in internal combustion engines and/or aftertreatment systems
• 24/7 support required as needed (Engineer will be on-call to remotely address project related problems that are encountered)
• Must have skills in the full suite of Microsoft products including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
• Skills in a type of engineering software such as Labview, Matlab, Simulink, Python, C#
